Terms of Service
Effective date: September 27, 2026
These terms govern access to and use of Units (UnitsHQ), including the Units app, the tenant portal, and our integrations. By using the service, you agree to these terms.
Accounts and access
- You are responsible for your account credentials and all activity under your account.
- You must provide accurate account information and keep it up to date.
- You must make sure the people you invite are authorized to access your account and facility data.
Acceptable use
- Do not use the service for unlawful purposes or to violate anyone's rights.
- Do not attempt unauthorized access, interfere with the service, or bypass security controls.
- Do not upload malicious code or misuse the integrations.
Subscription and fees
Subscription fees, billing cadence, and plan limits are set out in your selected plan or commercial agreement. You are responsible for applicable taxes and a valid payment method. We may suspend access for overdue payment after notice.
Your data
You retain ownership of the data you and your tenants put into Units. You grant us the rights needed to host, process, and transmit it to provide the service. You are responsible for having the right to collect your tenants' information and for your own obligations to them. Our handling of personal information is described in our Privacy Policy.
Tenant payments
Card and bank payments made through Units are processed by Stripe. By accepting payments through Units, you also agree to the Stripe terms that apply to you. You are responsible for your pricing, refunds, and any disputes with your tenants.
Third-party services and integrations
Units can connect to services such as QuickBooks Online, Xero, Gmail, and Outlook. Your use of those services is governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for their availability or for changes made directly in them. You can disconnect an integration at any time from your Units settings.
Tax and accounting
Units calculates invoice totals using the tax settings you choose and syncs them to your accounting software. It does not provide tax, legal, or accounting advice. You are responsible for your tax settings, the tax you charge, and your accounting records.
AI features
AI features such as the Units assistant can produce inaccurate results. Review their suggestions and any changes they propose before relying on them.
Service changes and availability
We may update features and perform maintenance. We aim for high availability, but the service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties beyond those that cannot be excluded by law.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, Units is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability for claims related to the service is limited to the fees you paid in the 12 months before the claim. You acquire the service for business purposes, so the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 does not apply.
Termination
You may stop using the service at any time. We may suspend or end access for material breach, unpaid fees, or legal requirements. You can ask us for an export of your data before your account closes; after that, we delete it as described in our Privacy Policy.
Changes to these terms
We will update the effective date when these terms change and give notice of significant changes.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
